On 25 August, RTG3144 held its Opening BBQ at Campus Lottestrasse, bringing together our team of doctoral candidates and principal investigators for the first informal get-together of the programme.

Over a joined dinner and Hamburg’s late-summer weather, doctoral candidates from across the network compared research backgrounds, talked through what they’ll be working on, and got to know the PIs they’ll be collaborating with over the coming years. On a relaxed afternoon, we put faces to names and start building connections across labs and disciplines.

RTG3144 is aiming to build a close-knit, interdisciplinary network where doctoral candidates and PIs know each other well and can reach out easily, whether for a quick question or a full-on collaboration. The get-together was a great, efficient way to kick that off.
